Safer beginnings: Strengthening maternal and newborn care across Uzbekistan

Through the Ishonch Fund, UNICEF, UNFPA and WHO partnered with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health to strengthen maternal and newborn care at all 231 perinatal centres nationwide. The USD 43.5 million programme combined modern medical equipment with workforce training, updated clinical standards and stronger monitoring systems, benefiting more than four million women and newborns and laying the foundation for safer care across Uzbekistan.
